It's official!  The months are just going by too quickly and here I am again with a new card for

Our theme this time is 'Fantasy Creatures'

This is a great theme, there is so much inspiration... fairies, dragons, mermaids, sons (and husbands)! that put their clothes in the laundry basket!  I was also going to say unicorns but they're real...right?

I am here today with a real sweetie!  In fact she's a real

...and I want to say a big thank you to my lovely DTDF DT teamie Elaine (Marker Geek) for the inspiration - I love how Elaine cuts out the individual words for the sentiments on some of her cards and could nt wait to try that myself!

I coloured this sweetie with Copics and kept the card design fairly simple, borrowing Elaine's sentiment idea.

Good Morning everyone,

I hope you are enjoying the Easter break, 

I am here today sharing a rainy day card with a great Copic technique.

I thought I would try a technique with Copic refills and stencils that I have used previously with Distress Ink pads and stencils!  I am really pleased to say that the technique works really well with Copics!

I have put together a tutorial to hopefully show you how you can also achieve such a fun background.

Here are the goodies you need.  You can see that the first thing I did was to colour and cut out the beautiful Stamping Bella Tiny Townie - Rachel loves the Rain.  Make sure you put her somewhere safe while you get inky with your background!

It is important to work swiftly with this technique because the ink dries quite quickly so open all of your refills before you start and tip some colourless blender into your spritzer bottle.

Randomly dab some rows of tiny dots of ink from the Copic refills onto your mat so that you have covered an area roughly the same size as your stencil.

Working quickly, give the ink one fine spray of colourless blender.

Place the stencil 'ink side down' onto your piece of card

and gently tap the stencil all over with a piece of tissue paper.

Carefully lift the stencil away from the card, this is the effect you will see - isn't it pretty!

Finally, clean your work surface and stencil with some Copic Cleaner.

Here is a card I made as part of a set for our lovely Tracy to showcase some goodies from Dies To Die For in Die Cutting Essentials magazine.

Tim Holtz Distress Ink Pads in Tattered Rose, Spun Sugar, Picked Raspberry

I used this die in quite a different way by cutting the Chrysanthemums out individually and using Distress Ink to create a blended ombre effect on them.

Here is short tutorial which I hope might be useful...

 Layer the 13cm Circle Die die over the fold of a 15cm x 15cm card blank and die cut to create a circular shaped card with the fold at the top.  Using the same die cut a piece of white hammered card and fix it to the card blank.  Using the 12cm Scalloped Circle Die cut a piece of purple card and fix it to the card blank and set aside.

 From the polka dot card die cut the largest stitched circle frame.  From hammered card create a card panel with the 10cm circle die.  Set both pieces aside.

On a piece of white card blend the Tim Holtz Distress Inks in an ombre effect light to dark, Tattered Rose, Spun Sugar, Picked Raspberry and Seedless Preserves. Die cut a Blooming Chrysanthemum from the coloured card. Cut out the flower heads and stick them around the edge of the white card panel as shown. 

Stamp the sentiment across the centre of the card design using Onyx Black Ink.  Fix the polka dot frame to the card design.

Firmly fix the card design to the front of the card blank set aside earlier.
